The Fiddlers’ Festival in Ribeauvillé

A former feudal town in the heart of the wine producing area, Ribeauvillé invites you to the Fiddlers’ Festival, also known as "Pfifferdaj". Come along and celebrate two days of mediaeval festivities in the old town, during the first weekend of September.

Alsace's oldest festival

The Pfifferdaj, which refers to "the fife players’ day", is a historical event which has been held for more than 600 years in Ribeauvillé’s mediaeval town centre. Each year, this festival offers a taste of the town’s mediaeval history. Historically, it started out as a major annual gathering of fiddlers back in the days when the Lords of Ribeaupierre ruled over the village. Today, it has become a leading festive event and a source of joy for the residents and visitors to this charming fortified town on the Alsatian Wine Route.

A friendly local event

During these two days of festivities, you'll be entertained by numerous musical acts and street performer. Don't miss the high point of the festival : the float parade. The packed event programme includes: street performers, jugglers and fire breathers with more than 1,000 participants to bring you an unforgettable show. Soak up the atmosphere in the mediaeval market, to the sound of music from the happy fiddlers.
