The summer is almost here and its finally time for a well-deserved holiday! With this selection of suggestions we propose some great ideas for a relaxing stay. Because even when relaxing and doing nothing, in Alsace they do it with style.

Relaxing in an inspiring natural environment

Although Alsace offers countless exciting experiences for visitors, nothing beats relaxation and lounging around! Take a break in the region's generous natural environment as you discover our 21 nature reserves and our 2 Regional Nature Parks. The amazing variety of landscapes never fails to delight the more contemplative among you, who will find the forests, vineyards and incredible mountain views an endless source of inspiration. The crystal clear sound of running waters at the Nideck Falls is incredibly relaxing, while the Petite Camargue nature reserve and its 40 dragonfly species offers a fairytale world waiting to be discovered. At the Col du Donon, take the time to soak up the mystical atmosphere of this spot, unless you prefer the company of the mountain flowers growing abundantly on the stubble fields. In the shade of a tree or on a mountain peak, tap into the very forces of nature and take the time to relax and unwind out in the open air!

Exploring the terraces

How about a drink on a terrace? This is definitely a "must" on fine summer days, offering the perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxing break in our delightful Alsatian towns! In Strasbourg, the view across the river Ill from the terraces of our floating bars combines perfectly with a delicious cold drink. Unless of course, you prefer a stroll in the Parc de l’Orangerie, for little siesta in the shadow of a centuries-old tree. In Colmar, the Alsatian wine capital, the choice of beverage is almost automatic. Terraces in the town centres or tucked away in romantic little alcoves... it's over to you to find the one which suits you best for wiling away the hours. In Mulhouse, head for Place de la Réunion, which as its name suggests (Meeting Square) is a lively and friendly place to meet up! Wherever you go in Alsace, you'll find a terrace waiting for you, to quench your thirst and help you take the time to appreciate the French art of living, our way.

Bathing and relaxing at the water's edge

Although the sea is far away, in Alsace you can still enjoy all the pleasure of getting sand between your toes! Our region's lakes and gravel pits offer the perfect place to cool off. The Baggersee is traditionally one of the favourite bathing spots near Strasbourg. In Colmar, bathers generally head for the water sports centre.

Is the weather hot? Head for the Huningue white water sports park! Dive into the gushing waters for a riverboarding session and follow the course of the cool river.

For those who like something calmer, other river craft will take you along the water's edge in a rather more peaceful way. On board a barge you can discover Alsace's landscapes from the canals, with more than 400 km of waterways awaiting you!
