The «Art and History » Department is undergoing renovation. In the crafts room are displayed stained-glass windows from the 15th century, collections of tiles, stove tiles, locks and keys, stove plates… The room devoted to religious sculpture offers some notable pieces: 15th century Nativity, 15th century Virgin Mary, bas-relief representing Saint-Vit, Saint-Sebastian… Engravings and objects relate the history of Saverne in a special section. The Museum also exhibits paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries and owns a folk art department. In the 1980s, Louise Weiss donated numerous objects to the Museum, thus making a great addition to the collections: furniture, paintings, ethnographic items…
