"There is no other museum like the Musée du Papier peint (Museum of Painted Wallpaper) which opened in 1983. It is housed in the former commander's residence of the Teutonic Order, built in 1735 and dedicated to the manufacturing of wallpapers since 1797. It exhibits both the industrial process and the finished product. The equipment used since the 18th century is displayed in a technical room, it includes two amazing machines built in 1877 and 1883. The collections, some 130,000 documents, are presented through changing exhibitions regularly renewed: panoramic wallpapers, landscape wallpapers printed since 1804, transporting the visitor into a dream journey around the world, from the Indies to Eldorado.
