Organised in partnership with the Municipal Archives and the Historical Museum, this exhibition explores the complex return of Strasbourg to France after 1918 through illustration. Satirical drawings and propaganda images are combined to reflect the two great themes of contemporary historical reality: first of all, the enthusiasm brought by the liberators, and, secondly, the outbreak of what is known as the Alsatian Malaise, catalyst of autonomous movements. Dorette Muller, Hansi and Zislin are among those artists who, sometimes rather harshly, bore witness of that time.
