Dachstein

" Ancien village médiéval, il reste à admirer à l'entrée l'imposante porte de la Bruche. "

Occupied without a break since Prehistory, this market town is a former Episcopal town. Extensive remains from the Middle Ages remain today, including the Bruche Gateway. It was reduced in size by half in 1574, as attested to by the inscription on the outside façade, thus making it quite unique. A privately owned property, Turckheim Castle, in the Neo-Renaissance style, was built within the walls of the mediaeval fortress. Saint Martin’s church is noteworthy for its very long 18th century nave and its imposing Baroque high altar.
