The Vosges range offers winter sports lovers a huge choice of sporting possibilities including downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, dog sleigh rides and biathlon, etc. Together, the resorts offer a total of 170 ski lifts and 1000 km of marked-out trails for cross country skiing.
Skiing and snowboarding
Less "touristy" and more easily accessible, the Vosges range is the perfect place to enjoy a skiing holiday as a family. Even if its slopes are more undulating than those of the Alps or the Pyrenees, the Vosges can also boast a number of red and black slopes. What's more, the Markstein resort hosted the trials for the world slalom cup between 1983 and 1987. In all, the Vosges has 13 resorts, the most famous of which are Gérardmer, Markstein, Lac Blanc, La Bresse and Schnepfenried.
Cross-country skiing
Ski-touring enthusiasts will find perfect cross country skiing conditions here. As an example, you can practise your favourite sport in the Champ du Feu resort where more than 100 km of slopes await you, or on the 45 km long trails of the Ballon d’Alsace
Snowshoeing
If you were looking forward to walking in the forest but the weather conditions are far from ideal, then why not rent a set of snow shoes and head off to discover all the richness and diversity of the Vosges range? By trying something different, you'll quickly find that you can admire the local fauna and flora under perfect conditions in a silent, snowy landscape.
