Montagne des singes (Monkey Mountain)

Discover monkeys… right here in Alsace!

The "Monkey Mountain" wildlife park is home to approximately 300 Barbary Macaques from all around the world. New visitors here are always surprised at how close they can get to the animals, who are always keen to come right up to you and gingerly accept the popcorn offered to them! Here, the monkey is definitely king. They live free in a 24-hectare pine forest, offering conditions very close to those experienced in the wild. This is also a park with the focus very much on fun! The park guides explain the animal's behaviour at each stage of the visit. Offering more than just entertainment, since it was first opened in 1969 the park has also provided the perfect opportunity for scientists to study monkeys at first hand in order to gain a better understanding of the social behaviour of man's furry distant cousins.
