Towns: Colmar

A charming and attractive Alsatian town

As the capital of the Alsatian wine producing area, Colmar boasts all the intimacy and comfort of a medium-sized town, combined with a rich heritage and a remarkably uniform and attractive architectural style. In the old town, visitors could be forgiven for thinking that they have stepped into a life-sized picture postcard. Colourful and well preserved half-timbered houses are the norm here. Your taste buds are also in for a treat, with traditional cafes and restaurants to be found on every street corner.

A variety of "not-to-be-missed" attractions

The leading tourist attraction is without a doubt the town's "Petite Venise" (Little Venice), which perfectly matches the ancient town centre. Culture lovers can combine a visit to the Unterlinden Museum with a stop-off at the Bartholdi Museum, dedicated to the Colmar-born artist who designed the statue of liberty, or at the Toy Museum, which is always guaranteed to delight the kids (even the grown-up ones). Alsatian wine enthusiasts can head off along the Wine Route, located right next to the town.
