Parks and gardens: The Wesserling park

With four superb gardens and a museum, the former Royal Wesserling factory is a unique reminder of the textile industry in Alsace.

The largest garden in Alsace

The Wesserling gardens are officially listed as historical monuments, and are among the finest gardens that Alsace has to offer. Here, visitors can discover an English-style garden, Mediterranean terraces, a French-style garden and a kitchen garden, (a contemporary copy of the allotment gardens from the 20th century). The Wesserling garden features a fascinating mix of atmospheres and attractions. Every summer, the park hosts the "Festival des Jardins Métissés" (Combined Garden Festival), which provides experienced artists and students with a chance to create temporary plant-based works of art featuring a textile theme. These artistic gardens are made up of vegetables, fruit, textile and aromatic plants, and of course flowers.

The Textile Museum

The Textile Museum is housed in a former block printing works dating from 1819. Here, you can learn all about the exciting history of this former Royal factory. You can also discover the many different aspects of textiles thanks to the museum's textile art exhibitions including embroidery and patchwork, etc. The museum presents the development of textile printing in a specially converted factory area, providing a living example of Alsace's once flourishing textile industry.
