Parks and gardens: The Léonardsau Park in Obernai

A garden inspired by a wide range of influences

The Léonardsau Park is situated in the area known as "Saint Léonard " in Obernai, where linen cloth was washed and whitened in days gone by. The park was created back when the Léonardsau Château was built between 1896 and 1930. With a total surface area of 9 hectares, this English-style park stands alongside a number of other gardens designed based on a variety of different influences. These include a charming Japanese garden in addition to an Italian baroque garden. The two great landscape designers Jules Buyssens and Edouard André both participated in the creation of this park, hence its outstanding overall harmony.
