An amazingly diverse park waiting to be discovered
Created in 1975, the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park is home to an extremely rich and diverse natural environment. The park features a gentle terrain, in a landscape dotted with clearings and pools. The forest, which covers 65 % of the park's territory, is inhabited by an incredibly varied range of animals, birds and insects. Here, you are likely to come across roe-deer, stags and (if you're lucky), lynx or coal tits. This exceptional diversity resulted in the park being awarded the rare "World Biosphere Reserve" label by UNESCO.
Discovering the park
There's certainly no shortage of ideas when it comes to finding ways to discover this exciting park. As an example, visitors can:
- Discover more than 30 castles, (this area offers the highest concentration of castles in Europe!).
- Enjoy hiking or cycling along more than 1650 km of specially marked-out trails.
- Visit around 20 different museums.
- Observe the local fauna and flora at first hand, thanks to the themed discovery trips organised by the Maison du Parc (Parks Centre).
