The three castles of Haut-Eguisheim

Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, today only three pink sandstone keeps remain of this structure which once formed a single castle. Gradually destroyed and finally abandoned in the 14th century, the ruins have today been invaded by vegetation. The remains of this castle stand proudly on a wooded hillside from where visitors can admire the attractive view across the plains. This site is the starting point of the "Five Castles Route", covering a distance of 20 km and which continues on to the Castle of Hohlandsbourg followed by that of Pflixbourg.
