The Castle of La Petite Pierre

A highly strategic site, modernised by Vauban

Built during the 12th century, the Castle of La Petite Pierre and its fortifications were extensively modernised by Vauban in 1684. The castle was a strategic location, making it possible to control the routes running between Alsace and Lorraine. Today, it is home to the Park Discovery Centre for the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park. Inside the castle, a permanent exhibition provides an opportunity for visitors to discover the history of this castle and of the regional nature park
