The Castle of Ferrette, at the foot of the Alsatian Jura range
The Castle of Ferrette was probably built around 1100. At an altitude of 612 m, the building looks out across the valley and part of the village, providing visitors with a remarkable view. The castle can be reached on foot, via a path on which you can still admire the stone paving dating from the 16th century. The site comprises an upper part and the lower part, which was once connected to the town's fortifications.
The upper and lower castles
The upper castle includes an accommodation tower comprising several levels, which was also used as a keep. A Romanesque tower, of which today only the foundations remain, once stood in the lower castle. Another tower, this time on the ramparts, was visibly home to a chapel dedicated to Saint Catherine.
